Getting found
Local Citation Building in Mansfield
An old listing with a previous address or a disconnected number is not neutral. It actively undermines your local rankings by making it unclear which details are correct.
A citation is any mention of your business name, address and phone number on another website. Search engines use the consistency of those mentions as a trust signal for local ranking.
The problem is rarely too few. It is inconsistency: an old address on a directory nobody remembers signing up to, a landline you gave up in 2018, three variations of your business name, and two duplicate listings competing with each other.
Cleaning that up is dull, finite work with a genuine effect on local visibility.

What you get
An audit of what exists now
Everywhere your business is currently mentioned, including listings created automatically that you never set up.
One canonical version agreed
Exact business name, exact address format, one phone number. Then everything is corrected to match it exactly, including punctuation.
Old and wrong listings corrected
Usually the highest-value part. A wrong address on a live listing does more damage than a missing listing.
Duplicates merged or removed
Two listings for one business split your signals and occasionally trigger a suspension.
The directories that actually matter
The core data aggregators, the major UK directories, and the two or three that matter for your specific trade. Not two hundred junk sites.
A record of every listing
With logins where they exist, so you can maintain it yourself afterwards rather than depending on us.
Which listings are worth having
Quality over quantity, firmly:
- Google Business Profile — not technically a citation, and by far the most important listing you have
- Bing Places, which also feeds some AI assistants
- Apple Business Connect, which powers Apple Maps
- Facebook, which many people still use as a directory
- Yell, Thomson Local and the established UK general directories
- Trade-specific: Checkatrade, Rated People, Which? Trusted Traders, or your sector equivalent
- Chamber of commerce and local business association listings
Consistency down to the punctuation
It sounds excessive, and it matters more than it should. "Ltd" versus "Limited", "St" versus "Street", a suite number present on some listings and absent on others — each variation is a small piece of ambiguity.
We agree one exact format and apply it everywhere, including the format used on your own website and in your schema markup.
What affects the price
From £145 is a genuine starting point, not a teaser. Here is what moves it, so you can work out roughly where you would land before you ring us.
- How many existing listings need finding and correcting
- Whether there are duplicates or listings from a previous address
- How many sector-specific directories apply
- Multiple locations, which multiplies the work
Why local matters here
Local Citation Building — the Mansfield picture
The most common local problem we find is a business that moved premises three or five years ago. The old address is still live on eight directories, and Google has conflicting information about where they actually are.
That single issue can hold a business out of the map pack for its own area. Fixing it is a day’s work and frequently produces movement within weeks.

Local Citation Building — your questions
How many citations do I need?
For most local businesses, thirty to fifty accurate ones covers it. Beyond that the returns fall away quickly. Accuracy matters far more than count.
Do citation services that submit to 300 directories work?
Not really, and they can cause problems. Bulk submission puts your details on low-quality sites, often with errors, and then you cannot correct them because you have no logins. We do fewer, properly, with access retained.
What if I work from home?
Use a service-area setup and hide the address. The rules are specific and getting this wrong risks suspension, so it is worth doing deliberately rather than guessing.
How long before it affects rankings?
Corrections typically take four to twelve weeks to propagate and show up in local visibility. It is slower than it feels like it should be.
