Schema Markup in Mansfield
Schema markup is a small block of code that removes all ambiguity about who you are, what you sell and where. It is invisible to visitors and increasingly decisive for everything else.
Search engines read your page and infer what it is about. Schema markup removes the inference — it states, in a structured format, that this is a business, at this address, offering this service, at this price, with these reviews.
The visible benefit is rich results: star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, prices and opening hours shown directly in the search listing. Those take up more space and get clicked more.
The less visible benefit is becoming more important. AI answer engines rely heavily on structured data to work out what a business is, because it is unambiguous in a way prose is not.

What you get
One business entity, properly declared
LocalBusiness or the right subtype, with a stable identifier that every page references, so you resolve as one entity rather than fifty separate mentions.
Service and Offer markup
What you do and what it costs, in a format that can be read and quoted. Prices as numbers matter more here than anywhere.
FAQ markup
Which can produce expandable questions directly in search results, taking up considerably more of the page.
Breadcrumbs
So Google shows your site structure in the result rather than a bare URL.
Product and review markup for shops
Price, availability and rating shown in the listing — a meaningful click-through difference for retail.
Validated, not just written
Tested in Google’s Rich Results Test and Schema.org validator. Broken markup is ignored at best and penalised at worst.
What it actually gets you
- Star ratings in search results, where you have genuine reviews to declare
- FAQ dropdowns expanding under your listing
- Opening hours, address and phone shown directly in the result
- Prices and stock status for products
- Breadcrumb navigation instead of a raw URL
- A far better chance of being correctly understood by AI answer engines
The rules that catch people out
Markup has to reflect what is visibly on the page. Declaring a five-star rating that appears nowhere on the site is a policy breach and can cost you rich results entirely.
The same applies to prices, availability and FAQs — the structured data describes the page, it does not embellish it. Used honestly it is one of the highest-return technical jobs available. Used to claim things that are not there, it is a liability.
What affects the price
From £95 is a genuine starting point, not a teaser. Here is what moves it, so you can work out roughly where you would land before you ring us.
- How many schema types the site needs
- Whether it can be templated or has to be per-page
- Product schema across a large catalogue
- Whether existing incorrect markup needs cleaning up first
Why local matters here
Schema Markup — the Mansfield picture
Very few Mansfield business websites have correct schema markup, and a good number have broken markup added by a plugin and never validated. That means rich results are available locally for a day’s work.
It matters more for local search than most technical work, because LocalBusiness markup directly reinforces the address, hours and service area that decide map pack visibility.

Schema Markup — your questions
Will schema markup improve my rankings?
Not directly — Google is clear it is not a ranking factor. It improves how your listing appears, which improves click-through, which does affect performance. And it materially improves how AI systems understand your business.
Can a plugin do this?
Partly. SEO plugins generate basic markup, often incompletely and sometimes with errors nobody checks. The business-level and service-level detail usually needs doing properly by hand.
Can I show star ratings in search results?
Only where the reviews are genuinely on your own page and you are declaring what is visibly there. Declaring an aggregate rating with no reviews shown on the page breaches the guidelines.
