Email Marketing in Mansfield
Social platforms can change the rules, throttle your reach or suspend your account tomorrow. An email list is the only audience you own outright, and most local businesses have never built one.
Email is the least fashionable channel in marketing and consistently one of the most profitable. It costs almost nothing per send, it goes to people who have already told you they are interested, and nobody can take the list off you.
The reason it fails for most small businesses is not the writing. It is that nobody ever built the list, or the emails land in spam because the technical setup was never done, or they send four in a week at Christmas and nothing for eight months.
We fix all three: build the list properly, get the deliverability right, and send something useful on a rhythm people get used to.
What you get
Deliverability set up properly
SPF, DKIM and DMARC records configured so mailbox providers trust you. This is the single most common reason business email lands in spam, and it is a one-off fix.
List building that is not a popup war
A reason to subscribe that is worth something, placed where people already are. Not a full-screen overlay three seconds after they arrive.
Campaigns written and designed
Written to be read on a phone in eight seconds. Plain, useful, with one thing to click.
Segmentation that reflects reality
Customers and prospects are different audiences. So are people who bought once and people who buy monthly. Sending everyone the same thing is why open rates fall.
Automated sequences
Welcome messages, follow-ups after an enquiry, reminders before a service is due. Set up once, running permanently.
GDPR handled correctly
Proper consent, a working unsubscribe, and records of who agreed to what and when. This is a legal requirement rather than a nicety.
What to actually send
The businesses that do well at this send useful things, not announcements:
- Seasonal reminders — service due, gutters before autumn, boiler before winter
- Genuinely useful advice, the same content that works on the blog
- Offers, but sparingly, so they still feel like offers
- What you have been working on, with photographs of real jobs
- Anything time-limited, which is the only thing that reliably drives immediate action
Why your email goes to spam
Nearly always one of four things: missing SPF and DKIM records, sending from a free address like a gmail.com account rather than your own domain, buying a list, or a sudden jump in volume from a domain with no sending history.
The first is a twenty-minute fix that most businesses have never had done. It is the first thing we check, and it frequently transforms results on its own.
What affects the price
From £95/month is a genuine starting point, not a teaser. Here is what moves it, so you can work out roughly where you would land before you ring us.
- How many campaigns a month
- Whether we write and design or you supply content
- List size — the platform cost rises with subscribers
- Whether automated sequences are included as well as broadcasts
Why local matters here
Email Marketing — the Mansfield picture
For local businesses with repeat custom — garages, salons, vets, opticians, anyone on a service cycle — email is close to unbeatable. A reminder that an MOT or an eye test is due converts better than any advertising, and costs pence.
It is also the thing local businesses are least likely to be doing, which means it is usually the cheapest available improvement to a year’s revenue.

Email Marketing — your questions
How often should I email my list?
Monthly is a sensible baseline for most local businesses, more if you genuinely have something to say. Consistency matters more than frequency — people unsubscribe from irregular senders they have forgotten about.
Can I buy an email list?
No. It breaches UK GDPR, it wrecks your sender reputation, and it does not work. Every list has to be built from people who chose to join it.
What platform do you use?
Usually Mailchimp or MailerLite for smaller lists, both of which have free tiers to start. For ecommerce we often use Klaviyo, which is more expensive and considerably better at revenue tracking. We pick to suit the job.
What is a good open rate?
For a local business list, 30% to 45% is healthy. Below 20% suggests either a deliverability problem or a list that has gone cold. Note that Apple’s privacy features inflate open rates, so clicks are the more honest number.
