Shopify Web Design in Mansfield
Shopify removes almost every technical worry from running a shop. What it does not do is make design decisions, write your product copy, or stop you spending £200 a month on apps you do not need.
Shopify is the right choice for a lot of businesses. Hosting, security, PCI compliance and platform updates are handled, the checkout converts well because Shopify has spent enormous effort optimising it, and there is an app for most requirements.
The costs to watch are the ones that accumulate quietly: apps at £15 a month each until you are spending more on subscriptions than on hosting, and transaction fees if you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments.
We build Shopify stores that look like your brand rather than a lightly recoloured theme, and we are deliberately stingy about apps.

What you get
A theme that does not look like a theme
We start from a solid base and customise it properly — typography, layout, product page structure, collection design. Not a logo swap and a colour change.
App discipline
Every app is a monthly cost and usually a performance cost. We use them where they earn their place and build the rest into the theme, which is frequently cheaper within a year.
Product pages that convert and rank
Clear variant selection, honest delivery information, reviews in place, and proper structured data. Shopify handles a lot of SEO basics but leaves the important content decisions to you.
Migration without losing rankings
Moving from WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart or an old bespoke system. Products, customers and order history transferred, with a full URL redirect map — Shopify’s URL structure is fixed and differs from most platforms, so this step is not optional.
Speed work
Shopify stores get slow the same way every other site does: too many apps, oversized images, and third-party scripts. We audit and fix that, which most Shopify builds never bother with.
Training on the admin
A recorded walkthrough of your store covering products, orders, discounts and reports — so day-to-day running does not need us.
What Shopify genuinely costs to run
Being upfront, because the headline plan price is not the real number:
- Platform: £25 to £289 a month depending on plan
- Apps: realistically £30 to £150 a month for a typical small store
- Transaction fees: 0% on Shopify Payments, up to 2% if you use another provider
- Card processing: around 1.5% plus 25p for UK cards
- Premium theme, if used: £150 to £350 one-off
When Shopify is the wrong answer
If you need heavy content marketing alongside the shop, WooCommerce inside WordPress usually serves better because content and commerce share one system. If you have unusual B2B pricing rules, complex bundles or deep integration with an existing ERP, Shopify can be forced into it but it fights you.
And if your margins are thin at high volume, the monthly costs matter more than the convenience. We will run the comparison rather than defaulting to whichever platform we prefer.
What affects the price
From £595 is a genuine starting point, not a teaser. Here is what moves it, so you can work out roughly where you would land before you ring us.
- Whether we customise a premium theme or build one from scratch
- Number of products and how complex the variants are
- Whether you are migrating from another platform
- Custom functionality that needs an app or bespoke development
Why local matters here
Shopify Web Design — the Mansfield picture
A good number of Mansfield product businesses start on Shopify precisely because it removes the technical worry, and that is a sound reason. Where we usually get called in is twelve months later, when the store works but looks like every other store, the app bill has crept up, and it is not ranking for anything.
That rescue job — proper design, app cull, content and SEO — is often better value than starting again, and we are happy to say so.

Shopify Web Design — your questions
Is Shopify better than WooCommerce?
Neither is better in the abstract. Shopify is lower maintenance and has an excellent checkout; WooCommerce is cheaper to run at scale and far more flexible. The right answer depends on your catalogue, your content plans and how much technical responsibility you want.
Can you move my shop to Shopify?
Yes. We migrate products, customers, orders and content, and map redirects from every old URL so your search rankings survive the move.
Do I need a paid theme?
Not necessarily. A well-customised free theme often outperforms a premium one, because premium themes tend to carry more features and therefore more code. We choose based on what your store needs to do.
Can Shopify handle SEO properly?
Mostly. The blogging tools are weaker than WordPress and the URL structure is not fully controllable, but everything that matters most — speed, structured data, clean markup, meta control — is achievable. Content depth is where Shopify stores usually fall short, and that is a decision rather than a limitation.
